Having spent considerable time working with local authority in the hope that we could proceed with this event, we are now in a position where Melton Borough Council have refused to issue a Temporary Event Notice in respect of licencing for alcohol sale, consumption, sale of food and live music.
The flying element of the event will proceed as advertised with appropriate Covid related measures in place. It remains lawful to provide camping facilities and the flying element falls within the provision for organised sporting activity.
There will be an outdoor catering outlet, and visitors may of course bring their own refreshments but must comply with current stage 3 covid requirements.
This is of course disappointing given the extended preparation for this event, however it still looks set to be a great weekend of warbird flying and socially distanced camping.
We look forward to seeing you in July and planning is already underway for a bumper 2022 event.
In summary the Warbirds event is going ahead but there is no beer festival.
