2021 WARBIRDS AND BEERFEST LATEST UPDATE
Having spent considerable time working with local authority in the hope that we could proceed with this event, we are now in a position where Melton Borough Council have refused to issue a Temporary Event Notice in respect of licencing for alcohol sale, consumption, sale of food and live music.
The flying element of the event will proceed as advertised with appropriate Covid related measures in place. It remains lawful to provide camping facilities and the flying element falls within the provision for organised sporting activity.
There will be an outdoor catering outlet, and visitors may of course bring their own refreshments but must comply with current stage 3 covid requirements.
This is of course disappointing given the extended preparation for this event, however it still looks set to be a great weekend of warbird flying and socially distanced camping.
We look forward to seeing you in July and planning is already underway for a bumper 2022 event.
In summary (for those of you who read the title and last paragraph) the Warbirds event is going ahead but there is no beer festival.

National Centre Update 09/04/2021
The Centre returned to open for Season Ticket Holders and pre-booked events on the 30th of March, the next step of the return to being fully open is on the 12th of April when we re-open for camping and day ticket access.
Initially there will still be some limitations on access to indoor spaces plus of course the requirements for track and trace and appropriate social distancing measures.
Introducing BMFA Buckminster
BMFA Buckminster is located on the Leicestershire/Lincolnshire border close to the towns of Melton Mowbray and Grantham and is the National Visitor Centre and Model Flying site of the British Model Flying Association (BMFA). See here for exact location and directions
The site occupies 43 acres of open and largely unobstructed countryside set within a traditional farming estate and presents an ideal location for the sport of model flying to take place.
The location represents an important facility for many of the model flying disciplines in the UK and will host an annual programme of events and competitions as well as the opportunity to just turn up and fly.
Additionally the location provides facilities for education through model aircraft and the opportunity for those who are thinking of trying model flying to participate in a “trial lesson experience”.
Facilities at BMFA Buckminster are continually evolving, take a look around this website to find information on the various activities and opportunities and for information on visiting the National Visitor Centre for Model Flying.
We look forward to welcoming you at BMFA Buckminster.
